Fancy Mac and Cheese

Looking for a rich and creamy yet super easy mac and cheese? I’ve got the perfect recipe for you. Get creative with your cheese, just make sure that you use at least a cup and a half of meltable cheese: cheddar, Monterey Jack, or swiss, in addition to any harder cheeses.

Prep time: 30 Minutes

Makes 4 Servings

8 Ounces Pasta

2 Tablespoons Butter

2 Tablespoons Flour

2 Cups Milk

1/2 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper

1/2 Teaspoon Salt

1/2 Teaspoon Garlic Powder

1/2 Teaspoon Cracked Black Pepper

1 and 1/4 Cup Shredded Smoked Gouda

1 and 1/4 Cup Cheddar Cheese

1/2 Cup Bread Crumbs

  1. Boil the pasta in salted water until it is mostly cooked through. It should be about 2 minutes underdone.
  2. Melt the butter with the flour in a saucepan and cook until slightly golden brown and nutty smelling.
  3. Very quickly stir in the milk in small batches. Once all of the milk is added, boil the mixture until it is slightly thickened.
  4. Add all of the spices into the mixture along with the cheese.
  5. Pour the cheese sauce over the pasta in a baking dish and stir together. Sprinkle on bread crumbs and bake in a 350-degree oven until the bread crumbs are toasted, which should be about 15-20 minutes.
